BRECKNOCK TOWNSHIP REZONING

Please attend the Brecknock Township meeting on this issue!
TUESDAY, MAY 9 at 7 p.m.
Brecknock Township Office, 1026 Dry Tavern Road, (Route 897) in Fivepointville
Your action is
needed!

Brecknock Township is currently considering a proposal to rezone 213 acres of beautiful farmland, almost all of which is in current agricultural use, into a "Highway Commercial" use strip along Route 625.

Lancaster County history clearly shows us what happens in instances like this. The commercial highway strip induces even more development of the area, bringing in much more traffic and additional development and a PERMANENT LOSS OF FARMLAND. These are lifestyle impacting choices that once set in motion can never be reversed.

Now is the time for local residents to speak up!

THIS REZONING REQUEST SHOULD BE DENIED FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS...
• It will reduce acreage of farmland in Brecknock Twp and threaten our way of life.
• Highway commercial is the wrong zoning to allow normal growth of our local businesses.
It is for hospitals, nightclubs, restaurants, warehouses, and adult businesses.
• 200 acres of commercial business will create a need for more development – more residents, more
township services, creating conflicts with surrounding farming operations
•Residents do not want to see large commercial operations or questionable businesses that bring big-
city values into a quiet, rural community.
• This plan is not consistent with the Elanco Region Comprehensive Plan or the Lancaster County
Comprehensive Plan. It was not approved by the township or county planning commissions
